| TRAINING PROGRAMS
Becoming a Personal Care Aide can take as little as 40 hours of training—that's only one week! Training provides comprehensive information on how to care for the elderly, skills in personal and rehabilitative care, home management, safety and accident prevention in the home, food, nutrition, and documentation requirements. This is also a great way to enter into the field of nursing.
The Department of Medical Assistance Services maintains a list of approved Personal Care Aide training programs in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Click this link and scroll down to "Training Information."
Also, please visit the Department of Medical Assistance Services website for a wealth of up-to-date information on public health policy, Medicaid, long-term care, managed care, providers, upcoming PCA training events, and much more.

This project is supported by a subcontract from the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services under a "Demonstration to Improve the Direct Service Community Workforce" grant from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
