Mental Retardation & Mental Health Specialist
Average Hourly Pay Rate: $9 - 12.50

Mental Retardation Specialists support individuals in group homes and other residential supportive programs.

Job Description: Provides assistance in daily living, participates in Interdisciplinary Team Meetings, understands behavior modification and can implement a behavior program, provides transportation to individuals to and from the community, administers and records medications, communicates with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure medical needs are monitored, and provides budgeting assistance.

Entry-Level Minimum Requirements

  • Successfully pass the DMHMRSAS Community Based Medicaid Waiver form
  • Complete 32 hours of medication administration
  • Possess valid Virginia driver's license
  • Mandated training to be completed within the first 30 days of hire:
      o First Aid/CPR, OSHA, and tuberculosis awareness, Human Rights, Reporting of Abuse and Neglect, Overview of Behavior Management Procedures, Incident Report writing, MANDT or other approved non-physical intervention management programs
