JOB POSSIBILITIES

Certified Nursing Aide / Nursing Assistant / Care Manager
Average hourly pay rate: $8 - 14

CNAs have the flexibility to work in a wide variety of health care settings including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospices, and group homes.

Job Description: Performs basic, non-specialized tasks in the care of patients under the supervision and direction of a nurse. Duties include grooming, changing linens, feeding, assisting with toilet needs and/or walking, cleaning or organizing living area, measuring and recording temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, and reporting changes in patient's physical condition, behavior, or appearance to the nursing supervisor.

Entry-Level Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Nurse aide education minimum of 120 hours. The curriculum includes, but is not limit to:
    • Communication and interpersonal skills
    • Safety and emergency procedures
    • Personal care skills
    • Appropriate clinical care of aged and disabled
    • Clients' rights
    • Occupational health and safety
    • Successful completion of the Competency Evaluation
Licensure/Education Requirements: Certification as a Certified Nurse Aide from the Virginia Board of Nursing
