Advanced Certified Nursing Aide
Hourly pay rate: $8.80 - 15.40
Advanced CNAs have the flexibility to work in a wide variety of healthcare settings including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospices, and group homes.
Job Description: Performs basic, non-specialized tasks in the care of patients under the supervision and direction of a nurse to assist individuals with activities of daily life.
Duties include measuring and recording temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, reporting changes in patient's physical condition, behavior, or appearance to the nursing supervisor, assisting with wound care under the supervision and direction of a nurse, providing support and care for cognitively impaired individuals, assisting with restorative care under the supervision and direction of a nurse, and serving as mentor to other nurse aides.
Entry-Level Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Current certification as a Certified Nurse Aide in Virginia
- No findings of abuse, neglect, or theft from patient recorded by the Board within five years
- A recommendation for advanced certification from a licensed nurse who has supervised the applicant in providing direct care for at least six months within the past year
Training
- Successful completion of 120 hours of advanced training in an approved program
- Competency evaluation acceptable to the Virginia Board of Nursing
Licensure/Education Requirements: Certification as an Advanced Certified Nurse Aide from the Virginia Board of Nursing
